Fewer mistakes: Many patrons in the Lackawanna County Library System have the same or similar names. Searching for accounts by number instead of name greatly reduces the chances of checking materials out to the wrong account. We require cards because we believe that it is the safest, fairest, and most effective policy.
“But you know me!”: Some desk staff may recognize you and others may not. It’s not realistic or fair to expect all desk staff to recognize all regular library patrons.
When you go to a supermarket, department store, or a government office such as the registry of motor vehicles, you would always bring your purse or wallet and driver’s license or photo ID. It makes sense to have the same expectations for the library.
If you LOSE YOUR LIBRARY CARD: Present some form of identification at the library's circulation desk to purchase a replacement card for $2. A photo ID is the preferred form of ID but a bill (eg Electric) with your current address on it will suffice. If you are under age and do not have ID, a parent must be present to receive a new card. If your CARD IS STOLEN or you or you think someone else is using it, call us and we will block your account until you can come in wit your photo ID to buy a new card with a different account number.
PRINTING
When you print, a window will appear telling you how much the print job will cost ($.15/page). When you click on OK, another window will appear. Please write down the job number from this screen. It is your responsibility to track which jobs you want printed and to take note of the number of pages that will be printed. If you are uncertain about how to print or how to print a limited number of pages, please contact a staff member. A print job will be held two hours from the time it is sent to the print console. After one hour, your job will disappear from our print console. When you are ready to pick up your print jobs, please go to the Circulation Desk. A staff member will print your jobs after you have paid for each job you request printed. You are not required to pay for print jobs you send to the print console; however, once you have paid for your job(s), and a staff member has printed your jobs, the library cannot refund any portion of the print fee.

The Ryon Community Room and Children’s Story Room are available without charge to community groups and organizations whose aims are educational, cultural and/or civic.
No organization will be granted use of meeting rooms for any of the following reasons:
(1) sectarian religious functions,
(2) commercial endeavors,
(3) partisan political purposes, or
(4) functions that are primarily social in nature.
All meetings must be open to the public. Community groups and organizations using the rooms may not charge admission or seek a donation. Rooms may be used by only one group at a time.
To reserve a room a signed form – available at the Circulation Desk – must be submitted, and approved by the Library Director at least two weeks prior to the meeting date. No request may be submitted more than one month prior to the meeting date. Library activities (board meetings, programs) take precedence over outside group use.
Approval granted by the library for use of our rooms does not constitute endorsement by the library of views expressed by any speaker or group.
To schedule a meeting room, please complete the following forms and return them to the director for approval.
