Abington Community Library

Volunteer opportunities:

Share your expertise in a particular field as a guest speaker at a library-sponsored program or event. Call for information or bring us your suggestions. Volunteers must respect our "no solicitation" policy. We are currently seeking speakers/instructors on a variety of topics. Examples include:
- Business topics
- Family life
- PC instruction
Help at our Semi-Annual Book Sales sponsored by the Friends of the Abington Community Library by sorting, displaying, selling, and/or cleaning up. Used book sales are conducted in June and October.
Conduct book discussion groups for youth and/or adult titles. Choose your book(s) and your level of commitment. Facilitators may opt to handle one or more sessions. Packets will be provided to group leaders - all you need to do is read the book and prepare to lead a lively discussion! Packets include "ground rules" for the group as well as facilitator instructions and discussion questions.

Carbondale Public Library

Interested volunteers are asked to contact the director, Marie Zaccone.

North Pocono Public Library

Volunteers may come or call the library to set up a time to volunteer. Volunteers are given information and then tested on how to put books back in the proper order before they are able to shelve books and materials.

Taylor Public Library

Please come to the library and ask to speak to the person responsible for the area in which you would like to volunteer (i.e., children, young adults, etc.) and make arrangements for times and dates.

Valley Community Library

Juvenile volunterrs must be 12 years of age or older. They can contact Karen Slachta, Director of Youth Services, at 489-1765 ext. 4, for more information.
Adult volunteers must provide a Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance dated within the current year. The forms for this clearance are available at the library. A Pennsylvania State Police check is also required. For more information, contact Mary Barna, Library Director, at 489-1765 ext. 3.
