Now in its second week, “On the Same Page in Lackawanna County” signups are running well ahead of last year’s number! Those who join the countywide reading club get a free copy of “Tyrannosaur Canyon,” by Douglas Preston, and a chance to meet the author at a reception prior to his lecture on April 25, at Lackawanna College. The program runs until May 15, so there’s still plenty of time to sign up. And tickets for the Preston lecture are available at all Lackawanna County libraries.
“Lives change @ your library,” the theme of National Library Week 2014, reminds us just how important libraries are. No other institution offers more things for free, from books, magazines, lectures and children’s activities to a wide range of online resources and downloadable media. Stop by any Lackawanna County library during National Library Week and learn all that your library has to offer.
Is the library part of your life? Has it changed you? Write an essay about it and you might win a Google Nexus 7 Tablet, described by one reviewer as “the best small tablet you can buy.”
The essay should be no more than 350 words long and describe how a library changed your life, improved it, or is a meaningful part of it. The contest is open to anyone 9th grade through adult and the deadline for entries is Friday, May 23.
Pick up a flyer with contest rules at any Lackawanna County library.
